The Highlands Living Center is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Staff Educator (RN) to lead staff development, training, competency programs, and quality improvement initiatives within our skilled nursing community. What You’ll Do
As our Staff Educator, you will develop, coordinate, and implement comprehensive educational programs that support excellence in resident care and regulatory compliance.
Education & Training Leadership
- Lead new employee orientation programs for all staff
- Coordinate nursing department orientation and onboarding
- Provide classroom and clinical instruction for nursing personnel
- Develop and conduct skills training, in-services, and continuing education programs
- Support CNA trainees through classroom and clinical instruction
- Design, implement, and continuously improve educational curriculum through MyPath (online learning management system)
- Oversee annual competencies and mandatory education requirements
Staff Development & Performance Improvement
- Evaluate new nursing staff and collaborate with Nurse Managers regarding orientation progress
- Identify educational needs through assessments and performance evaluations
- Develop corrective action and educational plans to address performance gaps
- Create opportunities for professional growth and career advancement
- Ensure compliance with regulatory training requirements
Quality & Regulatory Excellence
- Lead the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) Program
- Facilitate and coordinate Quality Assurance Committee meetings
- Develop quality audits and Performance Improvement Projects (PIPs)
- Conduct emergency preparedness drills and staff education
- Participate in policy and procedure development and updates
- Maintain documentation of educational activities and employee attendance records
Collaboration & Leadership
- Partner with department leaders to identify and address educational needs
- Utilize community and external educational resources
- Network with long-term care professionals and industry organizations
- Participate on interdisciplinary committees
- Stay current with evidence-based nursing practices and educational methodologies
Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Nursing (AAS) Minimum AAS Nursing degree, required and BSN preferred.
- Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License
- Minimum one (1) year of Long-Term Care experience working as an RN.
- Must have 2 years of supervisory experience in long-term care.
- Three (3) years of gerontological nursing experience
- Two years of teaching, training, and leadership experience
- Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills
- Must have technological skills and be familiar with the concept of e-learning.
- Experience with competency management and staff development programs

Pay Range: (E) $80,000- $99,000 annually
