Safety Security Guard

Location: Hahnemann Square, Laurelwood & The Cottages

Hours: Per Diem – Sunday overnight- 11pm-7am

Conducts continuous patrols of campus buildings, grounds, residential areas, and parking areas to prevent and detect fire, theft, vandalism, illegal entry and safety hazards using key fob system to validate the door was checked. Must be willing and able to work both inside and outside.  Primary function is to protect our residents and property, to prevent crime or violation on our campus.

Other responsibilities would include: assisting in the snow removal from the sidewalks and driveways using a shovel and snow blower. Able to salt sidewalks using a manual spreader. Performs a variety of traffic control functions including patrol and monitoring all parking areas, rerouting traffic as necessary, keeping fire lanes accessible, investigating and reporting motor vehicle accidents, and monitoring and reporting snow and icy conditions.

Removes and disposes of all waste and trash from totes and recycling bins in designated resident disposal areas during rounds as assigned. Deliver resident packages to apartments and or cottages as requested. Be fully versed and ready to handle the implementation of the emergency back-up generators. Be able to respond to “light” work orders such as plugged toilets, cleaning up spills, changing batteries for residents, etc.

Any unusual conditions at the facility or malfunctions of heating, plumbing, electrical system or elevators will be promptly reported to the Maintenance Department. If no immediate response is available, officers will take steps to minimize further damage, hazard or inconvenience while awaiting appropriate personnel to correct the problem.

AAS Criminal Justice, with minimum 1 year experience in health care institution and/or retirement community. Must a valid NYS Security license.
