Qi Gong and Energy

Qi Gong is the ancient Chinese practice of cultivating internal energy (Qi) through regular practice (Gong) by regulating body posture and movements, mind intention and concentration, and breathing. We will learn gentle exercises, a combination of gentle arm exercises and relaxed breathing, which helps stimulate the organs and tone the body from the inside out. This will be led by Raphaela McCormack who teaches at local venues and has been studying T'ai Chi for 16 years.

Beginnings, Middles, and Ends: Mythology As Context

This weekly course will look at the use of myth as a means to contextualize the world and bring meaning to our lives. Underlying the whole course is the question of purpose: even in our strongly scientific, rational world, figures like Apollo and Hercules are still part of our common culture. "Leafing" Through History: Rochester's Historic City Parks

Four of Rochester's parks are nationally recognized as masterpieces by Frederick Law Olmstead. In this lecture we will discover how our city is one of just four U.S. cities to implement a complete system by Olmstead, who was the "father" of American landscape architecture and the creator of Central Park in New York City.
